Join a team of producers going to Uganda, Africa this year!

On May 21, 2007 my family and a team of folks who care about orphans will leave for a two week trip to Uganda.  (Uganda Trip Details…)  This team will be people who all have their own digital camera, want to make a difference, and are willing to take what they know about video and apply it to video production for children who need their story told.  If you are apart of this team, you’ll go out where the orphans are and capture a day in the life of one of these precious children.

Not sure you can shoot well enough?  It doesn’t matter because we will train you and give you good tips to get better.  Its not a question of quality and style — it’s a matter of who's available and can see the vision.  God can add a lot to a willing heart.

Each video or photo you make changes one life forever.

You have dreams and desires, and your parents and friends listen to you.  When you speak, you hear yourself and experience other's approval.  In the mission field, many of those you will meet have never had anyone listen to them.  You will listen and record their dreams and desires.  You will capture their destiny in sight and sound so that others will hear and want to partner with them.  If each young person only has one individual who listens and responds, this will put the courage in them to carry on and not let go of their dream.  Dreams and ideas change lives, forever.  You'll be making a video that makes a difference in the life of a child.

Join an extreme team that heads out to where the orphans are.  We’ll take you.

You will travel to Uganda via a major carrier through Europe.  (Uganda Trip Details…)  Folks from the churches in Kampala will help us go to the Adonai house where we will base for this trip.  From Adonai, each team of four to six will travel out to meet with children every day.  Some teams will travel overnight to locations farther from the city.  We will take you where it is safe, and you’ll be around believers all of the time.

Use your digital camera to capture a day in the life of an orphan - one child at a time.  We’ll train you.

You will need the following equipment: a camcorder, a digital still camera if you have one, and a good microphone to plug in and pin on your subjects when they talk to you.  You’ll also want to bring a small tripod on which to put the camera while you are talking.  You’ll also want the biggest battery you can find (or at least plenty of spare batteries) to be able to shoot for two days without charging.  Bring your charger as well.  We will supply the Mini DV tapes, so if you have another format, please bring some media to record onto.  Lastly, if you require a special firewire connection to patch to computer, please bring it.

We will be downloading the footage you capture for each child, and then use it to make a short video which will roll on their own individual web page.  When you hear about how I started in missions video 24 years ago, you will know that you can do it too — and better!

Each video generates $840 per child.  You can make ten videos this trip.

Getting to the orphans will take a financial commitment by you.  But you can change ten childrens' lives and help to raise $8,400.00 in loving support of their needs.

Your work with us will help produce a quality of communication that fulfills the Lord’s mandate to me: "Son, tell their story in such compelling terms that you foster the Spirit of Adoption."  We believe your work will contribute to a web page for each child that will touch people in the first world to partner with that child for life.  Our parents don’t budget how much they will spend on us.  They pay for what we need.  We will show people an idea of the basic needs orphans have, then present them a chance to show love through giving.  We think you can video ten children on this trip.  That’s $8,400 every year that will make such a great difference to these children.

Just want to learn?  We will train you in our media clinic on the way out.

In 1984, I learned how to do video by reading an equipment instruction manual while flying to Manila, Philippines.  It was hit-and-miss for a long time, but by 1990 we were able to share with others in the field about this powerful tool.  I bet you can learn that fast, too.  So we will give you several days of training along the way.  It will all be practical experience from our "Media in Missions" clinics.  Your work may not end up as the slickest or best quality, but you will learn to communicate from your heart, and capture it to share with others.  You will learn to write the vision… for a digital world.

No one’s effort is too little.
